The Miami Beach Convention Center is located in the heart of world-renowned Miami Beach, the MBCC is conveniently situated just minutes from the Miami International Airport (12 miles) via State Road 112 and US 195, Downtown Miami (10 miles) and the Port of Miami (12 miles) via I-395, Fort Lauderdale (30 miles) and the Palm Beaches (60 miles) via Interstate 95, the Florida Turnpike and the Julia Tuttle Causeway (US 195).

REGISTRATION OPENING TIMES

All attendees should visit the PTCOG 60 & PTCOG-NA 8 registration desk, located on the ground floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center. To avoid the peak times, we advise to visit on Sunday evening for those attending the Educational Sessions. If you are attending the Wednesday program and/or the Scientific sessions you can go on Tuesday afternoon.

ORAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

File upload via USB drive at the venue

Please bring your presentation to the conference on a USB drive.  Do not forget, when saving your final presentation on a USB, to make sure that you include your video or multimedia files (if any). Links to these files should be embedded in the PowerPoint presentation if possible. If, for some reason they cannot be linked, please inform the A/V personnel well before your presentation.  

 

Please give your presentation (and associated files) on a USB stick, to the A/V personnel in the Speakers ready room (room no. 201).  The A/V personnel will upload your presentation and you will be able to check that the presentation is operating correctly, in the Speakers ready room.

 

Your presentation must be loaded before your presentation time; this means at least one session before the beginning of your session. If you are late, we cannot guarantee the upload.

POSTER GUIDELINES

The maximum printed poster dimensions allowed are 4 x 3 ft., LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION (equivalent to European A0 format – 1189 mm x 841 mm). Please make sure your poster does not exceed the maximum size.

The poster area will be open for mounting as of Wednesday, June 29, 8.30 AM. ​

Mounting materials will be available on-site. All posters should be set up no later than the Welcome Session (12:30) and remain in place for the duration of the Scientific Meeting. Please note that two posters will be placed on one side of the board, but each will be given its unique number.​

The poster area will be located in the Exhibition Hall.

There will be two opportunities for dedicated poster discussion (no other sessions scheduled during that time) during the afternoon breaks on Thursday (3.40 – 4.15 PM) and Friday (3.10 – 3.40 PM).  Please make an extra effort to try to be at your poster during that time (as well as other times that are convenient).

There will be three (3) poster prizes. The Poster Awards will be announced on Friday, July 1st, during the morning coffee break from 9.30am in the exhibition area. Please come and support your colleagues. 

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

All registered delegates present on-site are entitled to receive a Certificate of Attendance. Certificates can be downloaded from the Registration Portal after the Conference.

DUPLICATION, RECORDING AND PHOTOS DURING THE CONFERENCE

Professional or commercial photography, filming, taping, recording or reproduction in any medium, including via the use of tripod-based equipment and mobile devices, of any of the programs, presentations, posters, material, attendees, exhibitors and/or exhibits at PTCOG 60 & PTCOG-NA 8 is strictly forbidden without written authorization from PTCOG. Non-flash photography and audio or video recording using hand-held devices are permitted only for strictly personal and non-commercial use and if not disruptive, as determined by PTCOG.

 

There will be a PTCOG approved professional photographer at the conference and events during some times.  They may ask you for permission to take photos for the conference.  Please feel free to accept or not.

Transportation is not provided. It is a quick Uber ride or a 30-minute walk from the main PTCOG hotels.

 

IMPORTANT PRACTICAL INFO: 

All Gala Dinner participants must wear venue access wristbands. In order to avoid queuing at the entrance we invite Gala dinner participants to collect their wristband preferably at the PTCOG Miami Onsite Registration Desk on Thursday, 30 June, 7.00 am-4.00 pm.

Please be aware that Nikki Beach requires photo ID for entry. If you do not have your ID, you will not be allowed to the venue. 

As with other Conference activities, please bring along your badge too.

It is a tremendous honor and a genuine privilege for all of us at Miami Cancer Institute to invite you to Miami for what we hope will be a tremendously successful 60th edition of our annual PTCOG meeting. Miami is widely regarded as one of the most cosmopolitan and international of all North American cities, a true melting pot of cultures from all over North America, the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as Europe, and increasingly now from Asia.

This melting pot culture of Miami is emblematic of our own evolution in PTCOG, with a truly multinational flavor infusing a branch of medicine that is growing robustly in large measure due to international influences and collaborations, much like Miami, the city that will host this 60th edition.

The theme of PTCOG 60 is “Optimization of Radiotherapy Modalities”, reflecting our transformation from a nascent esoteric technology to a mainstream modality with a much better-defined use case. This is now permitting us to move on from dosimetric evaluations, case studies, and retrospective reports, to well-conducted prospective clinical trials, large and robust database analysis incorporating vast numbers of patients and producing real-world evidence, demonstrating not only clinical benefit efficacy, but also cost-effectiveness. We are no longer a therapy that is available to an extremely tiny minority of well-selected patients, but much more mainstream, and genuinely integrated with advances in surgical approaches, the development of targeted and immunotherapeutic agents, and entwined with other radiotherapy modalities.

Miami Cancer Institute (MCI), with its uniquely comprehensive range of all major radiotherapy modalities as well as its integration into a truly multidisciplinary clinical-trial oriented cancer matrix, is representative of this robust integration of proton therapy into mainstream cancer management. In this context, our special emphasis at MCI, includes the very interesting and widely pursued research arenas of FLASH and Dynamic Arc, but also on developing unique capabilities such as pulsed reduced dose rate proton therapy, proton GRID, combining proton therapy with other external beam approaches for an idealized total therapy plan, unique and novel approaches to collimation, dual energy CT, developing a more robust voxel-level understanding of dose distribution and resultant normal tissue morphometric change, etc. Ultimately, such accomplishments will determine the broader success and implementation of our modality.

We look forward to inviting you to Miami to enjoy a truly comprehensive and scientifically exciting program at this year’s PTCOG meeting. Also, come prepared to have some fun in the sun. The ocean is our neighbor, the beaches are our playgrounds, fine dining and night life abound. Check out our wonderous gardens, unique, and renowned the world over. For the connoisseur, we have fine dining, the arts, theatre, and music; There is truly something for everyone. PTCOG 60 & PTCOG -NA 8 Begins
June 27, 2022

Dear PTCOG Membership,

On behalf of the PTCOG Executive Committee I am pleased to let you know that we are planning for PTCOG 60 to be a physical in-person meeting!  PTCOG 60 will be held in beautiful Miami, Florida, from June 27 – July 2, 2022.  The conference, this year will include two days of education with parallel sessions and 3 days of multi-session scientific reports with plenty of time for subcommittee meetings in between.  Take care to plan your beach days before or after the meeting since there will be a lot of exciting content during the conference.  We are working with the Miami Baptist local organizing committee to plan an event to properly welcome all of you back together after such a long time physically apart.  The virtual meetings have been tour-de-forces, indeed, but it will be good to see you and have a beer with you, enjoy welcome receptions, a gala dinner and tours.

There is much new in particle therapy and the conference will bring together an international representation of what is evolving in the five continents of the world.  This results in PTCOG having an increased responsibility, as an organization to do its part to help ensure the highest standards of particle radiation therapy.  PTCOG has grown from a meeting of chatting in the corridors to helping identify consensus standards, education and development.  Indeed, it is our shared vision to provide the best care for patients worldwide.

On a more personal note, having served as your Chair for a few years now, as I mentioned during previous PTCOGs, it is time to begin another transition as we will vote for a new Chair in Miami to whom the Chairs responsibilities will transition in the following months.  This causes me to pause and consider what we’ve accomplished together in the last years.  We have grown the topical subcommittees to about 14 now with all the disease sites covered and with productive and valuable contributions from these subcommittees.  We have transitioned to a PTCOG managed annual meeting with the help of a professional conference organizer C-IN.  We have grown our budget to begin modest funding of some research projects, outreach educational sessions and began our contributions to the credentialing process.  We have grown the Educational subcommittee and the growth of the Publications subcommittee has begun which will help develop an on-line web community for coordinated sharing of PT development.  This growth reflects the broadening of PTCOG with over 4000 members and the expansion of Particle Therapy to over 100 facilities and increased need for professional discourse and dissemination of information.  The role of our sponsors continues to evolve, and we have tried to provide a consistent and useful experience for both vendor and all attendees.  I don’t have the space to provide a full account of the accomplishments of our various committees, subcommittees and dedicated membership, but it fills my heart with pride to have been part of this.

I look forward to your participation and spending time with you in Miami and hope you will grow from the meeting, and take time to enjoy the local flavor and hospitality.
